So as I said on my last post, The form of living I had decided on was Haksujibs. So heres my "Super Epic" Story of Hasukjib hunting without even being in Korea.
I had 2 options of looking for a place to stay.
1) Based on the information packet thats on Sogang's KLEC (if you want to see it the link is at the end of my first post here : Adimissions Post ) I can contact Korea-homestay (Link : Korea-Homestay) and asked them to help me find a place to live (basically like a real estate agent for hasuks) BUT the catch with this place is... you have to pay the 150,000krw for their services (basically 150 usd) for them to continually find you places that you may like... PLUS you have to give them 100,000 krw (100 usd) Deposit for them to give to the owner, to ensure you'll even show up.
BEING : the cheap person that I am... LOLs I decided to call some places myself based on the list that Sogang has and a list of places I found on Naver.
2) So basically I went on the list that Sogang Klec has, which includes pictures and numbers etc, etc..
here it is : Hasuk Info
I called almost all of them.. Since I didn't speak korean that well.. the conversation that followed goes something like this :
Me :영어 할 수 있어요? (do you speak english?
Them : 아니, bniuehnfjcdnclkwei4ryi
Me: oh....
-SILENCE-
Them : CHINESUHH? CHINESUUHH?
Me : YESS YESS!! 네!!!!
So then we had long extreme chinese conversations :D
In my head, I was pretty much like "HELLS YEA CHINESE WOOH!!"
But seriously, I was glad that all of the places I called spoke chinese :)
-AHEM- moving on.
and the people on that list Also spoke chinese :D
so... thats about it.... I'm just going to put a couple of important emails
and links that can help you.
If you do not speak Chinese / or Korean and you want to
secure a place before you go to
secure a place before you go to
Korea and you are ALSO willing to pay the 150 finders fee, then
email korea- homestay : Koreahomestay@nate.com
They do payment through Paypal , so its pretty safe.
If you want my help or anything just to ask me or even message me
OKI DOKI thats all for noww :D
Hi ^^
ReplyDeleteat the last, which hasuk did you choose? It seems live in hasukjib is more economical (compare with goshiwon), right?
is it possible to find a hasuk in a day? or just do like you did? but the cost to call to Korea will be too expensive.
I will learn Korean language for 1 month in october in Sinchon area..Please suggest me the place to stay...Thanks
